Scheduling a school physical exam is often something we think about as summer rolls into fall, but it’s easy to get sidetracked with last-minute beach trips and school-prep activities. Whether your kids are headed back to school or are mid-semester and in need of a checkup, the expert team at Coastal Urgent Care in Wall, NJ, is ready to offer a comprehensive exam that fits your schedule as well as your needs.

When You Need A School Physical Exam

Many schools, especially pre-K and kindergarten classrooms, require a completed physical exam prior to admission, and kids that are elementary school age and older should have an exam at least every two years — more often if they’re participating in sports. Parents who are interested in other well-care and preventative services, such as flu shots, can schedule those at any time or ask when making an appointment for one of our other services.

Convenience And Expert Care

There are numerous advantages to scheduling your child’s school physical exam at Coastal Urgent Care. You can schedule around your other commitments and know that your loved ones are in expert hands.

Dr. John Donadeo brings a wealth of experience to our clinic, including 17 years as a board-certified emergency room physician. Dr. Sal Pepe also has 17 years of experience in emergency medicine and is board certified in that field as well as in internal medicine. Donn Hosakc, PA-C, rounds out our team, bringing 12 years of experience as an emergency room physician assistant as well as time in orthopedics, vascular, plastic and general surgery.

What To Expect From Your Exam

Your child’s physical exam is relatively routine and will follow guidelines set forth by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Expect the doctor to check your child’s vital, including height and weight, blood pressure and heart rate. There will be an examination of other organs and systems, such as the heart, lungs, nose and mouth, and your child may be screened for conditions such as scoliosis.
